Changing Unions

Come out and make a choice for Change

There will be an opportunity for all of you to make a positive choice for
change.

* Where - Teamsters will be at The Royal Canadian Legion, 5603 spring
St, Niagara Falls ON,

* WHERE - CAW will be at the Casino Action Center 5546 Robinson St
Niagara Falls ON.

* When - Nov. 14th from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

* Teamsters and CAW will make their representatives available to
discuss their respective union.

* There will be an opportunity to make your vote on Nov.14th , voting
will be held at the Spring Street Legion.

* The voting station will be available all day.

These meetings and vote are to set in motion our mission to displace OPSEU
and join a new Union. Before us we have two National Unions bidding for our
members. As we are a democratic society we, as a membership, will cast our
votes to select the Union that we will have on the displacement ballet to
replace OPSEU.

Each member will have an opportunity to meet with each Union to ask whatever
questions they may have and then cast their ballet on that same day.

The ballet box will be counted on or about 1900 hours on November 14th and
each Union will be advised of the outcome.

In the event there is equal number of votes for both Unions, the Presidents
ballet will have been sealed and segregated and used as the deciding vote.

The unions expressed reservations about appearing in the same location, so a
compromise was made and the unions were separated to their respective
locations.

so is opseu trying to stop us now?

we found out that monday has been postponed until further notice due to a meeting with them.

what's really going on here?

it should be our right for change and not be forced into keeping damaged goods we do not want!!

where does everything go from here?

does being in trusteeship also mean opseu is doing everything they can to stop us?

you said they may remove you as a member in good standing, so i guess it means the membership voting you in as president means nothing to this union?

where does displacing opseu with a new union go from here?

The Monday meetings were postponed, the other unions were asked to step back for the time being until such time that opseu was given the chance to salvage our local. That chance has now been given. It is your right to change unions.
Trusteeship is a mechanizem that unions have to protect themselves. If the union believes that a local is having problems they put them into trusteeship. The reason for that is that it is still the unions responsibility to represent the members.
Opseu will make its efforts to salvage our local we shouldn't expect anything different, they have that right. a
as far as bing placed as a member in bad standing that hasent happened yet, and may not for the for see-able future.

they do have the right to try and salvage the local.

i thought that was what their representative at the membership meetings was for.

when do we have our right to vote for change?

we have the right by law, why do we have to wait for them?

well if you guys want some answer from someone who doesnt have a state in this...But i can tell you that if that there is alot of information that is going to be given to you...Just use common sense...I fought with OPSEU when i was there. I can tell you one thing is you people need to stand up to the employer and it doesnt matter the name of the union..You the members and if you dont show solidarity it doesnt matter what union is in there....I say the best way to win is being on the front lines information rallys show the publc that this employer tHAT THIS EMPLOYER IS NOT ALL GREAT
